An Essential Element of Corporate Governance - Security Governance

Governance frameworks, COBIT, ITIL, the ISO 17799 information security management standard, and the ISO 9000 quality management  standard - are used in the IT governance processes and structures.  ITIL and ISO 17799 are the most common frameworks in use. IT security governance is the system by which an organization directs and controls IT security (adapted from ISO 38500).  IT security governance should not be confused with IT security management.  IT security management is concerned with making decisions to mitigate risks; governance determines who is authorized to make decisions.  "DSS" offers best of breed technology tools to automatize the ISG.
